Organized by Atlantic Chess Assn at the Washington Dulles Airport
Marriott, 45020 Aviation Dr., Dulles, VA. Friday-Sunday, Sept 19-21. A 5
round Swiss tournament with Play in 3 Sections: Premier, Under 2000, and
Under 1500. Premier Section plays all 3 days. Under 2000 section has a
2-day schedule option availble. Under 1500 plays Sat & Sun only.
A $5,750 prize fund based on 100 paid entries. Up to two
1/2-point Byes allowed, must commit 1 hour before the start of Round 2.
Premier Section requires a minimum post-event rating of 1900 since Jan
1, 2025. Players rated 1800-1900 can play in the Premier Section for an
additional $200 fee. September US Chess Supplement ratings being used.
Free entry with no deductions for GM, IM, WGM, WIM if committed by July
31st (must play all 5 rounds, no Byes). Time Controls are Game-90,

2025 U.S. Armed Forces Open (USAFO)
Chess Championships.
This is a US Chess National Championship event.
Current planning calls for the
2025 to be hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
The agreement is being worked and is not yet finalized.The annual USAFO
is open to all active duty US Military, retired US Military, former
members of the US armed forces, cadets from the nation's military
academies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine), and
college ROTC students. The tournament has 5 rounds, two on Saturday and
Sunday, and one on Monday. Play is organized in 2 Sections, with the
"Championship" section open to active duty, retirees, and academy / ROTC
cadets, and the "Veterans" section for former members of the armed
forces. Both Sections are FIDE and US Chess rated. Two rounds on Sat
and Sun, and one round on Mon at a time control of Game-90, increment
30. This event is both FIDE- and US Chess-rated. For more information,

Spokane Washington at the Spokane Convention Center. Sections are
grade-based, in grades K-12 and all players play in their current school
grade. You cannot "play-up" into a higher grade and must play in your
current grade in school, even if you skipped a grade. The tournament
hotels are the Davenport Grand Hotel, teh Doubletree Hotel, and the

We are planning for the tournament to be in Fredericksburg, VA, at the
Country Inn & Suites Fredericksberg South. This is a FIDE-rated, 5-round
tournament that begins on Friday evening and ends on Sunday. The time
control is Game-90, increment 30. The Top Virginia player in this
tournament earns the right to represent The Commonwealth in the annual
Irwin Tournament of State Senior Champsions held Aug 3-6, 2026, in
conjunction with the US Open which will be in Grand Rapids, MI. Get more
