Mar 1 **2025 Maryland State Girls Championship. Organized by Magnus Chess Academy and being played at Bender Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington, 6125 Montrose Rd, Rockville, MD. The official Maryland State Girls Championship tournament! This is a US Chess rated Swiss style tournament. There is a K-12 Champ (750+) section and a K-12 U-800 section. Participants play only against opponents in their own section. Rounds start at 9:00am, 10:45am, 12:30pm, and 2:15pm, with an awards ceremony starting at approximately 3:45pm. The winner of the Championship section is the official MD Girls Champion, and will be invited to the Haring Tournament of Champions! Mar 22 Eastern Shore Community College Chess Tournament. The Eastern Shore Community College, in conjunction with its chess club student group, the Melfa Monarchs, will hold a tournament on March 22 from 8:30 AM-6 PM. It will be a rated tournament under the auspices of the U.S. Chess Federation, thus giving locals the chance to earn a rating from the organization. Three (3) rounds, QUAD format (e.g., players organized into groups of 4 players based on their ratings. Mar 22-23 DMV Adults-Only Classical Tournament. A 4-round Swiss for players 18 years old and up at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Wash-Dulles Airport South, 4050 Westfax Drive, Chantilly, VA. Three Sections: Premier (FIDE-rated), Under 1800 and Under 1400. Players many not "play up" more than 100 points above their live or published rating. Time Control is G/90+30. Entry $58 by 3/8, $65 by 3/15, $70 by 3/21, $75 on site. May 30 - Jun 1 2025 Virginia Senior Open Chess Championships. Fredericksburg, VA, at the Country Inn & Suites (same location as 2024). 5-rounds of chess at Game-90 + 30 time control. Open to players from VA and other states who turn 50 as of JULY 28, 2025. Highest-finishing Virginia player will be eligible to represent the Commonwealth at the 2025 John T. Irwin Invitational of State Senior Champions being held in conjunction with the US Open in Madison, WI, starting July 28th, 2025.
