Nov 2 Fairfax Quads with Magnus Chess Academy. Sat. Nov 2 at the Pozez Jeish Community Center of NoVA, 8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA. This is a US Chess rated quads style chess tournament with a Time Control of Game-25, 5-second delay. Each player is placed in a group of 4 players according to their age and rating. Nov 16 Baltimore County Classic with Magnus Academy. Sat. Nov 16th in Timonium, MD, at Ridgely Middle School, 121 E Ridglely Rd. 5 Rounds with Time Contol of Game-25, delay 5. This is a US Chess rated Swiss style tournament. There are six different sections for players depending on their age and skill.  Sections include K-3 Beginner (U-400), 4-8 Beginner (U-400), 9-12 Beginner/Intermediate (U-1000), K-8 Intermediate (401-700), K-8 Advanced (701-1000), and K-12 Championship (1000+). Participants play only against opponents in their own section.  The first round is at 10:00am for all sections.  The tournament concludes around 4:00pm with an awards ceremony where the top players and top school receive trophies. In honor of Mickey, the Roanoke City Public Schools Chess affiliate is hosting a 4 or 5 round tournament in his memory on Saturday, Feb 22, 2025, at Fallon Park Elementary School, 502 19th St. East in Roanoke.
