Olde Port Cove Chess Club

Olde Port Cove Chess Club, founded February 2004, meets every Thursday night from 6:30-10:30 pm in the clubhouse at Olde Port Cove, Yorktown. OPCCC is a non-profit membership club for adult players of age 18 and above. Exceptions are made for serious young chess players USCF 1800 and above.

Free beverages and snacks are always available for members. Club provides chess boards, sets, clocks and score sheets. Also a large demo board and an instructional video library is available for members who wish to study. USCF rated tournaments, monthly club ladder and casual 5 min tournaments are played.
 
OPCCC Swiss Tournaments;
 
USCF rated, 4SS, G/90, EF:$1 for members, $5 for non-members. No prizes. One round is played per week. Round start at 6:30 pm until 10:30 pm. You may take a 1/2 point bye with advance notification or you can opt to play your game the following week. Be sure to let Funda know as soon as possible!

 
OPCCC Club Ladder Tournaments;
 
Club rated (not USCF). 3SS, G/30, Rds: 7:00- 8:00- 9:00 pm. Monthly free tournament for members only.

 
Happy Thursdays;

Bring your favorite wine, listen to classical music and play chess by the fireplace in this exclusive and beautiful clubhouse. 5 min fun tournaments are also played on Happy Thursdays.

Location:

From Victory Blvd. (Rt. 171) turn onto Calthrop’s Neck. Calthrop’s Neck is about 1 mile west of the junction of Victory Blvd and Wythe Creek Road (Rt. 172).  Follow Calthrop’s Neck about ¾ mile until you see a road on the right with two low brick walls that have  Olde Port Cove on them. Turn right onto Olde Port Cove.  The clubhouse is on the right, across from the tennis courts. Take the first right and then make another immediate right into the parking lot.
