ACC meets nearly every Friday for rated Ladder games (G/90 SD/30 +30). Monthly tournaments include: Blitz (G/5), Action (G/30 d5), Action-Plus (G/45 d5),  DC Chess League (G/90 SD/30 +30), club championship(s), simuls, lectures, private lessons (by members), plus books/equipment for sale.  Open to players of all ages and abilities. At least 20% of members are under age 18. Players should bring their own chess sets/clocks/other equipment. See website for more information and to obtain annual memberships (lower rates for those aged 18 and under, and for 65 and older). Handicap accessible. No smoking.

Virginia Chess Club has been consistently one of the top competitive chess teams and we are currently the Virginia State Collegiate Champion. In the past, we've attended several major tournaments, including the United States Amateur Team East in Parsippany, New Jersey, and The Virginia State Chess Championship in Virginia.

Brian's Chess Club @ Gum Spring Library is a welcoming chess club community for children and pre-teens from elementary to middle school ages and all skill levels.  We are the only chess club in Loudoun County for kids, started by a "chess kid" as a way of giving back to the community and promoting chess!  In the process of learning how to play chess, children will make new friends and build their focus, discipline, competitiveness, and decision-making skills.  All skill levels are welcome, and no prior chess experience is necessary!  Chess sets are provided. The Providence Chess Club is for Fairfax VA residents only.

Mr. Hargan teaches chess on Mondays. He includes basic lessons on checkmate patterns, tactics, etc.  Most of his students are elementary kids.  On Thursdays, we have more advanced kids, as well as adults. Lessons some weeks, including openings, puzzles, etc.  Casual play weekly.  Special guests for simuls and lectures.
