Tournament Schedule & Awards

Friday, March 13th

• 9PM:  Deadline for ALL PLAYERS TO REGISTER AND PAY FOR THE MAIN TOURNAMENT

• ON-SITE  / LATE REGISTRATION:  

  • 4PM to 9PM at Monticello High School in the Foyer near the Main Entrance.

  • There is no registration desk on Saturday or Sunday. 

  • The phone number at the Registration Desk will be 757-846-4805.

• Blitz:  Round 1 at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 13th

  • ON-SITE Registration and Payment for Blitz if from 4-5:30 PM.  Players not paid for blitz by 5:30 PM will not be paired for Round 1 of the Blitz Tournament.

  • We expect Blitz to finish about 8:30 PM.

  • Blitz awards will be distributed on Saturday evening, 10 minutes before we start Round 4 of the Main Tournament ... see below.

• Check-in:  You only need to "check-in" at William Fleming High School on Friday March 14th if you:

  • Want to play in the Blitz Tournament and have not paid or registered

  • Need to pay your entry fees for the Main Event, or you still need to register

  • Need to change a player's or your Team's registration information

  • Want to check on your Team Room status

  • Have other questions about the Tournament

• Main Tournament (Saturday and Sunday):  Players who have not paid their fees by 9PM on Friday evening at the Tournament Site will NOT BE PAIRED for Round 1 of the Tournament unless cleared to play by the Chief Tournament Director on a case-by-case basis.

• Late Registration.  This is the last chance for any player to Register for the tournament.  Late Registration fee is $45 per player for the Main Event, and $15 for Blitz.  Late Registration for the Main Tournament ends at 9PM Friday evening.

Saturday, March 14th

• Opening Ceremony:  In the Main Playing Hall (probably the Gym) at 8:50 AM.

• Round 1:  9 AM, Time control is Game-60 in all sections, with 5-second time delay

• Round 2:  12-noon, Game-60, with 5-second time delay.

• Round 1 of Parents & Friends is at 12:30PM (Game-45, 5-second delay).

• Round 3:  3 PM, Game-60, with 5-second time delay.

• Round 2 of Parents & Friends is at 3:30PM (Game-45, 5-second delay).

• BLITZ Awards:  5:50 PM in the Main Playing Hall

• Round 4:  6 PM, Time Control is Game-90, with 5-second time delay.  This is the Final Round for the College Section.

• Round 3 of Parents & Friends is at 6:30PM (Game-45, 5-second delay).

• College Awards:  Immediately after Round 4.

Sunday, March 15th

• Round 5:  8:30 AM, Time Control is Game-90, with 5-second time delay

• Round 4 (Final Round) of Parents & Friends is at 9 AM (Game-60, 5-second delay).

• Round 6:  12-noon, Game-90, with 5-second time delay.

• Awards Ceremonies:  By-section, about 30 minutes after a Section completes its last game.

Awards

• Blitz: 

  • K-5 and K-12:  1st-8th Individual and 1st-5th Team

  • College:  1st-3rd Individual and 1st-2nd Team.

• Main Event:   CLICK HERE to see a listing of all awards for the main event.

• Parents & Friends:  Family-based and Place-based prizes will be Gift Certificates to the Book Store or Shirt Vendor.  No trophies or cash.
