  • ON-SITE CHECK-IN and REGISTRATION Instructions

    • On-Site Check-in & Registration opens at 4 PM at William Fleming HS

    • Registration will remain open until 9PM so teams and players who need to check in can do so.

    • On-site BLITZ REGISTRATION closes at 5:30pm SHARP!!

    Where:  William Fleming High School, 3649 Ferncliff Ave, Roanoke, VA.

  • The tournament has two separate events ... you must register separately for each tournament.

  • BLITZ Tournament:  Friday Evening, March 14th: 

    • 5 Rounds, Three Sections (K-5, K-12 and College).  Round 1 begins at 6:00PM.

    • Advance Registration is $10, you can pay using PayPal when you Register.  

    • Registation is $15 if you wait to Register at the tournament (cash or check only on-site).

    • All players MUST BRING A CHESS CLOCK to play blitz.

  • MAIN EVENT:  Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16. 

    • 6 Rounds:  4 games are on Saturday, 2 games are on Sunday.

    • NEW:  The College Section will play 4 Rounds, not 6 ... with all games on Saturday March 15th.

    • Players grouped into 5 Sections based on their grade in school (K-3, K-5, K-8, K-12, and College).  Click here to see the Awards for the Main Event.

    • Advance Registration is $35, and you can pay using PayPal when you Register online.  Online registration ends Friday, March 14 at 7 AM.

    • Registration is $45 if you wait to register at the tournament.

    • Note:  $1.50 from every player's entry supports sending Virginia's representatives to the Denker Tournament of High School Champions, the National Girls Invitational Tournament, and the Barber Tournament of K-8 Champions ... all in August 2014 during the U.S. Open.

    • Please put your mail-in entry in the mail by Monday, March 10th to ensure we get it.
