MULTIPLE TOURNAMENTS throughout the weekend ... it's a great
weekend full of Chess!!

Friday Night -- 6PM until 9PM:
Blitz & Bughouse Championships!! This is an optional
side event that has no bearing on who is the State Champion in
the main tournament.

6-Round State Scholastic & College Championships Main Event!!

4 PM at Rock Ridge HS ... DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE 4PM

Registration will remain
open until 9PM so teams and players who need to
check in can do so.

The
tournament has
four separate events
... you must register separately for each tournament.

Friday Night, March 4th: BLITZ
& Bug-House Tournaments (you can
only play in one of these two events, they occur at the same time)

SPECIAL NOTE: PLAN FOR TRAFFIC
CONDITIONS on Friday evening, especially
between 4 and 6 PM ... leave early so that you or your player can
make it to Registration and in time for Round 1 at 6:00 PM.

Blitz:
4 or 5 Rounds,
Three Sections (K-5, K-12 and College). Round 1 at 6:00 PM.

Bughouse:
4 or 5 Rounds, TWO Sections (K-5 and K-12 only, no College
Bughouse). Round 1 at 6:00 PM
-
Advance/Early
Registration is $20 per person
for Blitz or Bughouse.

Registation is $25 if you wait to Register at the tournament. On-site Registration
opens at 4 PM and ends at 5:15 PM!!
Entries received after 5:15 will be paired for Round 2.

All players
MUST BRING A CHESS CLOCK to play
Blitz or Bughouse.

We will be
using the US Chess Federation's Scholastic Rules for Blitz and
Bughouse, which were updated in December 2015.

games on Saturday and 2 games are on Sunday.

What happens if two or
more players tie with a perfect 6.0 score?
In the K8 and K12 Sections, if two or more players tie for 1st
Place with a perfect 6.0 score (e.g. they win all of their
games), there will be a "Blitz Armageddon Playoff" at the conclusion of
the tournament to decide who wins the 1st Place Trophy and who
becomes the State's candidate to prestigious National-level
tournaments in late July.

The College Section will play
4 Rounds, with all games on Saturday
March 5th.

Players will be
grouped into 5 Sections based on their grade in school (K-3, K-5, K-8, K-12,

Note:
$3.00 from every player's entry
supports sending Virginia's
representatives to the Denker Tournament of High School Champions, the
National Girls Invitational Tournament, and the
Barber Tournament of K-8 Champions ...
all in late July and early August 2016 during the U.S. Open in
Indianapolis, Indiana.

Parents & Friends (P&F) Tournament

4 Rounds:
3
games on Saturday, 1 on Sunday morning. Games start 30 minutes
after the kids start playing in the Main Tournament.

P&F Tournament is for adults only (parents, coaches, family friends and other
adult players), no scholastic
or college players.
4 Rounds of USCF-rated games, with Rounds 1-3 on Sat. at G/45 time
control, and Round 4 on Sun. at G/60.

USCF
Membership is required to play.
-
Registration is $25 in advance, $30 on site, and you
can pay using PayPal when you Register online.
Online registration ends
Friday, March 4th at 7 AM.

Prizes:
Family-based and based on Place. All prizes will be Gift
Certificates to the Book Store or Shirt Vendor. There are
no "cash awards" in this event.
