Tournament Schedule & Awards

Friday, March 10th

• 9 PM:  Deadline for ALL PLAYERS TO REGISTER AND PAY FOR THE MAIN TOURNAMENT.

• ON-SITE  / LATE REGISTRATION:  

  • 3PM to 9PM at the Hotel where the tournament is being played.

  • There is no registration desk on Saturday or Sunday. 

  • The phone number at the Registration Desk will be 757-846-4805.

• Blitz & Bughouse:  Round 1 at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 10th

  • ON-SITE Registration and Payment for Blitz and Bughouse is from 3PM to 5:15 PM.  Players not paid by 5:15 PM will not be paired for Round 1 of the Blitz or Bughouse Tournament.

  • We expect Blitz and Bughouse to finish before 9 PM.

  • Blitz awards will be distributed to winners on Saturday, before we start Rounds 2 and 4 of the Main Tournament ... see below.

• Check-in:  You need to "check-in" at the Tournament Site on Friday March 10th ONLY IF you:

  • Want to play in the Blitz or Bughouse Tournaments and have not registered

  • Need to register for the Main Event

  • Need to change a player's or your Team's registration information

  • Want to check on your Team Room status

  • Have other questions about the Tournament

• Main Tournament (Saturday and Sunday):  Players who have not completed the registration process by 9PM on Friday evening at the Tournament Site will NOT BE PAIRED for Round 1 of the Tournament unless cleared to play by the Chief Tournament Director on a case-by-case basis.

• Late Registration.  This is the last chance for any player to Register for the tournament.

  • Entry Fee for Late Registration fee is $65 per player for the Main Event, $30 for Blitz or Bughouse, and $35 for the Parents & Friends Tournament. 

Saturday, March 11th

• Opening Ceremony:  In the two Ball Rooms at 8:50 AM.

• Round 1, Main Event:  9 AM, Time control is Game-60 in all sections, with 5-second time delay

• Bughouse Awards:  11:50 AM in the Playing Hall (10 minutes before the start of Round 2)

• Deadline to Sign-up for the Parents & Friends Tournament:  11 AM

• Round 2, Main Event:  12-noon, Game-60, with 5-second time delay.

• Round 1 of Parents & Friends is at 12:30PM (Game-45, 5-second delay).

• Round 3, Main Event:  3 PM, Game-60, with 5-second time delay.

• Round 2 of Parents & Friends is at 3:30PM (Game-45, 5-second delay).

• BLITZ Awards:  5:50 PM in the Playing Hall (10 min before the start of Round 4)

• Round 4, Main Event:  6 PM, Time Control is Game-90, with 5-second time delay.  This is the Final Round for the College Section.

• Round 3 of Parents & Friends is at 6:30PM (Game-45, 5-second delay).

• College Awards:  Immediately after Round 4.

Sunday, March 12th

• Round 5, Main Event:  8:30 AM, Time Control is Game-90, with 5-second time delay

• Round 4 (Final Round) of Parents & Friends is at 9:00 AM (Game-60, 5-second delay).

• Round 6:  12-noon, Game-90, with 5-second time delay.

• (If necessary)  Immediately After Rd 6:  ARMEGEDDON PLAYOFF for players with 6-points and tied for 1st place in the K12 and/or K8 Sections.

• Awards Ceremonies:  By-section, about 30 minutes after a Section completes its last game.

• Parents & Friends:  Place-based and Under prizes will be Gift Certificates to the Book Store.  No trophies or cash, and Gift Certificates may not be exchanged for Cash from the Book Store.
