  • This is the HOME PAGE for the 2018-19 Virginia Scholastic & College Chess Championships

  • TO REGISTER ... select the "Registration" button on the left, or CLICK HERE.

  • Already REGISTERED, BUT NEED TO PAY??  Click Here to go directly to our PayPal payment site.  Regardless of when you Register, the Advance/Early Entry Fee for all events ends at midnight on Saturday, March 2nd.  In other words, beginning Sunday March 3rd, all Entry Fees increase, depending on the event you enter.  So, REGISTER AND PAY by March 2nd to avoid the extra cost!

  • NOTE:  This year the tournament is 5 Rounds, not 6 like it has been in the past.

  • ALSO:  This year the tournament has 2 Sections within each Grade-group.

    • K3 Championship & K3 Under 600.  The K3 Under 600 Section is for players rated 599 and below, including Unrated players.

    • K5 Championship & K5 Under 1000.  K5 Under 1000 is for players rated 999 and below, including Unrated players.

    • K8 Championship & K8 Under 1200.  K8 Under 1200 is for players rated 1199 and below, including Unrated players.

    • K12 Championship & K12 Under 1400.  K12 Under 1400 is for players rated 1399 and below, including Unrated players.

  • Unrated Players are allowed to play in the Championship or Under sections within their grade group.  ALSO, players are not being "forced" to play in the Under Sections based on their ratings.  In other words, parents, players and coaches may form a team in one of the Championship Sections that contains players who would otherwise be eligible to play in one of the "under" sections.  For instance, just because an 11th Grade player is rated 1350 does NOT mean s/he has to play in the K12 Under 1400 Section.  That player can play with his/her teammates in the Championship Section.

  • AM I ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN THIS TOURNAMENT?  See the Frequently Asked Questions ... Click Here.

  • WE WILL USE THE FEBRUARY 2019 US Chess Rating Supplement, which allows parents, players and coaches to form and stabilize their teams well before the tournament.  The February Rating Supplement will be on line with US Chess starting on/about Thursday, January 17th.  If you are not sure how to look-up a player's rating, contact us here.
